1. Physical rest. Can be passive (sleeping or napping) or active (yoga, stretching, massage therapy - restorative activity)
  2. Mental rest (taking breaks during work, jotting down thoughts or journaling)
  3. Sensory rest (breaks from bright lights, computer screens, background noise). Rises from overstimulation. Very difficult nowadays because of sensory overload through social media. Unplug from electronics. Close eyes for a couple seconds. For me personally, going to the Buddhist Shrine room is the most powerful form of sensory rest.
  4. Creative rest (basically, inspiration hunting)
  5. Emotional rest. Having time to truly express your feelings and cut back on “people pleasing”
  6. Social rest deficit - this causes the need for emotional rest. Stems from we fail to differentiate what relationships energize vs. drain us. Surround yourself with people who feel supportive.
  7. Spiritual rest. The ability for oneself to connect & feel a deeper sense of belonging. Community-maxxing!
